How do I schedule an appointment?
There are several ways to make an appointment with a therapist at THSCW so you can make the selection that is easiest for you.
Connect with us via the contact page to ask additional questions or set up an appointment.
What to expect when considering starting therapy:
First, we will listen to you about what is bringing you to seek therapy and help match you with an appropriate therapist. Once you schedule your initial appointment, you will receive intake paperwork to complete and provide you with information about THSCW.
Adult Sessions: Your therapist will hold space for the sharing of your story and together you will identify treatment goals, build the therapeutic relationship, and work towards those goals. Your therapist will work to understand your history and help with connection making. Together, you will discuss details of how often you will meet and the main focus of your sessions.
Adolescent Sessions: Depending on the age and relevant issues, it will be determined on an individual basis whether the parent or guardian will join their child for the first session or not. Generally speaking, we will ask that parents or guardians join their child for sessions. It is common for the therapist to schedule a session with the parent or guardian alone prior to the first meeting with the child client. This is to allow space for discussion of important information and history that may not be appropriate for the child to hear. For older adolescents, it is possible they may have their parent join them for sessions, not join them, or a combination thereof. Your child’s therapist will work with you to develop a plan most appropriate for the age, stage, and situation of your child.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! The Holding Space Counseling and Wellness (THSCW) participates with some commercial insurance companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network, Priority Health, Aetna, Aetna EAP, HMA, and McLaren Health Plan (commercial), ASR, HSR (Health Care Solutions Group). We do not offer direct out-of-network billing currently, however, we are able to provide a Superbill for patient's submission, upon request. Payments can be made via Debit or Credit card and can include HSA/FSA. Sliding scale fee schedules are available upon request.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
You will have direct contact information to communicate with your therapist via phone or email regarding scheduling. Our office policy is that all cancellations or reschedules must be made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment to avoid a fee. Late cancellations and no-shows have a $100 fee and are charged to the card on the client’s file. Insurance cannot be charged for this fee.
